My current body of work is based on anthropomorphic forms which combine
organic elements in ways that evoke images of un-discovered creatures and
places. I encourage the viewer to explore and interpret shapes which are
influenced by a study of medieval and baroque art history, modern science fiction
and fantasy art, and jewelry and metal work designs.
I am interested in combining traditional craft techniques such as
blacksmithing, wood turning, and metal casting, with modern techniques
such as welding and found object art to create contemporary mixed media
forms. I am also interested in the ways that traditional "crafts"
can be re-invented to fit into contemporary art.
